Sea Shepherd Shirts

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has released controversial t-shirts depicting Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck brandishing knives and glaring sadistically over three bleeding sharks, in protest of Disney Hong Kong’s decision to serve shark fin soup at its restaurants. Disneyland Hong Kong has landed itself in a stew where they are embroiled by the world media and conservation groups and activists, in the debate over this hot issue. Reports have been made that even children had been educated in China and are now writing petitions to Disneyland to halt the menu item. Sea Shepherd has taken a bold stand in the issue with the groups leader Captain Paul Watson making the statement: “They say it’s culture. Does that mean Disneyland in Japan is going to have whale burgers?” The New York Times has written an article on this issue, click here to view full story.

Ships Sunk

Sea Shepherd conservation society prides itself with the fantastic results they achieve in conservation. This year they were able to prevent the slaughter of 484 whales. The Japanese spent their time running away from the Sea Shepherd vessel, only to arrive at Japan with a catch representing only 53% of their quota! But the Sea Shepherd’s efforts are not recent. The image above well describes the amount of whaling vessels that Sea Shepherd has put out of action over the course of 30 years of their active campaigning in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans and thereabouts..

Chaser’s War on Everything - Japanese Research

April 17, 2008 by nemoslog

Has Chaser’s gone too far? Judge for yourself, but the chaser team spent no time in conducting their own Japanese research program, just to learn a little more about them. Though this clip doesn’t carry any moral lesson or answer the issues at hand, it does highlight the lighter side of the japanese people, who themselves see the absurd humour in japanese esxcuse to continue whaling.

Whale safe beer

Japnese whale slaughter occurs in Australia’s back yard every year on the basis of scientific slaughter. Over a thousand whales have to be hunted and cruelly murdered for japan to be able to conduct their research! Yet the meat is sold commercially to japanese restuarants and coastal villages. In response bluetongue brewery has developed a controversial ad that highlights the cruelty of whale slaughter. The company’s aim was to show what the owners of the company really valued and stood for, life in general.

Sea Shepherd recognised by New Yorker

April 14, 2008 by nemoslog

Sea shepherd has reached a new high, becoming the front cover focus article of the highly lucrative New Yorker. The article entitled “Neptune’s Navy” discusses in depth, of the sea shepherd philosophy, history and a biography of the moral drive of the organisation, Captain Paul Watson. The article also considers the more aggressive tactics of sea shepherd and how they are able to use international law to clear themselves of any charges. In effect the laws and regulations that allow countries to be the sole enforces of the seas, thus granting whaling nations the ability to continue their slaughter without fear of arbitration, also give sea shepherd the ability to use more aggressive tactics as there are no laws that can be enforced in order to charge them. Sea Shepherd

March 25, 2008 by nemoslog

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has been at the forefront of animal conservation since its founding in 1981. Since those years Sea Shepherd along with its army of ships and it’s nature loving and morally sane supporters, have battled the high seas and equally overwhelming governments in the bid to protect our most endangered and beloved wildlife. They’re best known for their more coercive measures of conservation in comparison to the more diplomatic counterparts. Sea shepherd is committed to paying more than lip service to the protection of animals. Sea Shepherd believes in action rather than words in furthering the cause to save animals from crueltyThis year they have launched campaigns in both the southern oceans and north Atlantic to prevent animal cruelty and mass murder.
